In a shocking incident, a woman named Aniqah lost her life after reportedly enduring severe torture at the hands of her in-laws in Mughalpura on Monday.
Local authorities have initiated a thorough investigation, and the deceased’s body has been sent for a post-mortem examination to uncover further details.
Victim’s Struggle with Domestic Abuse
Aniqah had been married to Junaid Ghulam Farid for four years. According to her father, Sheikh Shaukat, she faced persistent domestic violence throughout her marriage. The situation tragically escalated into a brutal attack allegedly involving her husband, her mother-in-law Izzat Bibi, and her sisters-in-law, Neelam and Iran.
“Last night, I received a call informing me about my daughter being beaten. When I rushed to their house, I found Junaid’s family brutally torturing Aniqah on the upper floor,” Shaukat recounted.
He claimed that Neelam and Iran restrained Aniqah’s arms, while Izzat Bibi held her legs, enabling Junaid to assault her with an iron rod.
Fatal Outcome
Aniqah was rushed to a nearby hospital for emergency medical attention. Despite the doctors’ efforts, she succumbed to her injuries during treatment.
Following her death, the police moved her body to the mortuary with the assistance of an Edhi ambulance.
Swift Police Action
Sheikh Shaukat lodged an official complaint, prompting Mughalpura police to arrest Junaid. A police spokesperson disclosed that the suspect used a belt and a pipe in the attack. The case has now been handed over to the investigation wing for further proceedings.

DIG Operations Muhammad Faisal Kamran expressed deep concern over the incident and directed SP Civil Lines, Dr Abdul Hanan, to ensure immediate and comprehensive action against the accused.
“Protecting the lives and property of citizens, especially vulnerable women, is our top priority,” Dr Hanan affirmed.
