Islamabad, January 30, 2025 – A breakthrough in the saga was achieved when Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif agreed to resume talks with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf. The premier suggested to the federal cabinet that it form a parliamentary committee that might kick off the dialogue process once again while reiterating the seriousness of the government in forging constructive dialogue for addressing the pressing national issues.

PM Shehbaz said the government had also accepted PTI’s proposal of dialogue, and consequent to that, a committee was formed to begin to initiate talks, but PTI changed its stance at the last moment. It had agreed for the meeting that was to take place on 28 January and then pulled out.

The Prime Minister said all written requisitions must be replied to with written replies, just as it was in the case of PTI, which constituted a House Committee back in 2018.
