The K-P spokesperson asserted that traveling to Islamabad is every citizen’s right.
Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa spokesperson Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif has reiterated the importance of dialogue while maintaining that no discussions are currently underway with the federal government. Speaking to the media in Peshawar, Saif, alongside PTI leader Shibli Faraz, addressed ongoing protests and criticized the government’s handling of the situation.
Right to Protest and False Cases
Barrister Saif stated that the government has filed baseless cases against him and other PTI members. “Six cases have been registered against me. We have protested before, and we will continue to do so until this illegitimate government is removed,” he declared.
Highlighting the constitutional right to peaceful protest, Saif said, “Traveling to Islamabad and participating in demonstrations is every citizen’s right. PTI founder Imran Khan has been clear—protests will not stop. Sit-ins, rallies, and demonstrations are integral to any movement, and we are determined to continue exercising this right.”
Belief in Dialogue Amid Protests
Barrister Saif reiterated his long-standing support for dialogue, noting his history of engaging with groups like the Tehreek-e-Taliban. However, he clarified that there are currently no negotiations underway. “If Imran Khan allows, we will initiate talks. Dialogue has always been a preferred approach, but the circumstances do not currently support it,” he explained.
Criticism of Government and Security Concerns
Saif took aim at the government’s response to protests, accusing them of labeling PTI leaders and supporters as instigators. “The real instigators are those who resort to violence against unarmed citizens during negotiations,” he asserted.
Discussing Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa’s ongoing security challenges, Saif pointed to historical factors. “Since 1979, our region has faced law and order issues stemming from Russia’s invasion of Afghanistan. The federal government’s failure to ensure border security has exacerbated these problems, and blaming the PTI for the current situation is unjust.”
Efforts for Peace in Kurram District
Saif highlighted the provincial government’s role in resolving conflicts in Kurram, mentioning the activation of a grand jirga to restore peace. “We facilitated a ceasefire, and the Chief Minister provided a helicopter to deliver medical supplies. While there is no emergency in Kurram, efforts are ongoing to address the conflict and dismantle bunkers in the area,” he explained.
When asked about attending the governor’s All-Parties Conference (APC), Saif said the provincial government will decide in due course.
CM Ali Amin Gandapur Condemns Violence Against PTI Protesters
Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur met with a Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf worker who was injured during a recent protest in Islamabad. The worker had been pushed off a three-storey container, an incident Gandapur strongly condemned.
Expressing his regret, the Chief Minister assured the injured worker of full medical support and extended best wishes for a swift recovery. “The violence against peaceful protesters is highly condemnable,” Gandapur remarked.
Support for Injured and Martyred Workers
Acknowledging the sacrifices made by PTI workers, Gandapur praised their courage and determination. “These workers are the backbone of our movement and the true tigers of PTI. We will ensure that the families of those injured or martyred during the protests receive full support,” he stated.
The Chief Minister reaffirmed his commitment to the party’s cause, assuring supporters that the release of PTI founder Imran Khan is a priority. “We remain steadfast, and the release of our leader will happen soon,” he added.
The injured worker expressed unwavering loyalty to PTI, stating, “We are ready to sacrifice anything for the release of Imran Khan.”
