Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday strongly condemned the terrorist attack on a police checkpost in Bannu and reaffirmed the federal government’s commitment to working with provincial administrations for the complete elimination of terrorism.

According to the Prime Minister’s Office, the premier spoke by telephone with Sohail Afridi following the attack.

The prime minister expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives in the incident and offered condolences to the families of the police personnel martyred in the attack. He also prayed for the speedy recovery of those injured.

Shehbaz Sharif said the federal government would provide all possible assistance to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government in the fight against terrorism.

“The country is determined to eradicate all forms of terrorism,” the prime minister said.

During the conversation, both leaders paid tribute to the armed forces, security agencies and police personnel engaged in counterterrorism operations across the country.
