LAHORE: Ahead of the upcoming Gilgit-Baltistan elections, the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP) and Islami Tehreek Pakistan (ITP) have reached an understanding regarding electoral cooperation in different constituencies of the region.

In this connection, a meeting was held between Quaid-e-Millat-e-Jafaria Allama Syed Sajid Ali Naqvi and Central President of IPP Abdul Aleem Khan. Central and provincial leaders from both parties also attended the meeting.

Both sides agreed to continue consultations through future meetings to further strengthen mutual understanding and political cooperation in Gilgit-Baltistan. Allama Sajid Ali Naqvi and Abdul Aleem Khan emphasized that politics based on unity, harmony and consensus is the need of the hour. They also held detailed discussions on the prevailing political landscape and the likely electoral scenario in Gilgit-Baltistan, while exchanging various proposals and suggestions.

IPP President Abdul Aleem Khan said Gilgit-Baltistan possesses immense potential for development and prosperity, adding that the naturally beautiful region could be transformed into the “Switzerland of Pakistan.”

Welcoming Abdul Aleem Khan, Allama Sajid Ali Naqvi said, “We will continue to sit together and address matters relating to Gilgit-Baltistan.” He expressed satisfaction over the ongoing joint political efforts, while both sides reiterated their commitment to maintaining dialogue and consultations.

Immediately after the meeting, a formal session was held between representatives of the two parties on preliminary electoral matters related to Gilgit-Baltistan. Representing Islami Tehreek Pakistan were Shabbir Ali Meesami and Zahid Ali Akhundzada, while Mian Khalid Mahmood and Rana Nazir Ahmed Khan represented the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party.
