Punjab Information Minister Azma Bokhari’s car was involved in a multi-vehicle accident on Canal Road near the Jail Road underpass in Lahore. Fortunately, the minister escaped uninjured and was able to continue her journey in an alternate vehicle.
Details of the Incident
This mishap was witnessed when the senior leader of the Punjab Provincial Government was going to the Punjab University because of the Chief Minister Punjab, Maryam Nawaz, had organised a scholarship event there. According to reports, there are three cars involved in this collision among which is one of Provincial Minister for Minor Affairs of Punjab, Sardar Ramesh Singh Arora.
The chain reaction started when a sudden brake of one of the vehicles got a rickshaw entangled in the collision. Both ministers, Azma Bokhari and Sardar Ramesh Singh Arora, were travelling in their official cars, which are fortunate enough not to get hurt.
The minister continues public duties
Despite the incident, Azma Bokhari continued her journey to university in another vehicle to meet the official schedule. Quoting sources from the PML-N, she maintains her public life without suspension.
Sardar Ramesh Singh Arora also escaped unhurt. He is likely to join his Provincial Minister for Minorities Affairs’ duties immediately.
Investigation Under Way
Authorities have yet to outline the cause of the accident. The involvement of several vehicles, including a rickshaw, raises concerns about road safety measures and traffic management on Canal Road, one of Lahore’s busiest thoroughfares.
This reminds the public of how risky city roads can be and to drive with more caution. The two ministers said that they are relieved to know that there are no serious injuries reported, and they should get back to their busy schedules shortly.
