Achakzai condemns govt’s violent response to PTI protests, calls for judicial inquiry and fresh elections.
QUETTA:
Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) Chairman, Mehmood Khan Achakzai, on Thursday, delivered a scathing critique of the government, condemning its response to peaceful protests at D-Chowk and the alleged targeting of PTI members.
Achakzai decried the government’s actions as unconstitutional, urging a judicial investigation into the reported fatalities. He demanded legal accountability for the Prime Minister, Interior Minister, and IG Police, emphasizing the need for justice to address public grievances.
Calls for International Support
The PkMAP Chairman appealed to global democracies, stressing the importance of peace and adherence to constitutional principles in Pakistan. Highlighting the unjust detention of the PTI founder, he called for their immediate release, asserting that it would not destabilize the country.
“His release will not cause the sky to fall,” Achakzai remarked, urging the government to act in the nation’s best interest.
Allegations of Corruption and Election Manipulation
Achakzai accused the current administration of widespread corruption and undermining democratic values. He claimed the February 8 elections were rigged, alleging that votes were sold for Rs700 million each.
Labeling the government as “illegitimate,” he criticized its failure to serve the people and its reliance on unethical practices to maintain power. He also pointed out the stark disparity between resources spent on vote-buying and the neglect of underprivileged citizens.
Fresh Elections for Stability
Achakzai called on all political parties to unite and demand fresh elections within months, stating that only a truly elected government could lead the nation towards stability and prosperity.
“The growing public discontent is a clear sign that the current administration cannot sustain itself. We must uphold the constitution to restore order,” he emphasized.
Safeguarding Sovereignty and Resources
Highlighting the misuse of national resources, Achakzai urged the government to adopt independent domestic and foreign policies to protect Pakistan’s sovereignty. He criticized the administration for prioritizing vote-buying over addressing poverty and social inequality, warning that such practices jeopardize national stability.
A Plea for Unity and Justice
In a powerful conclusion, Achakzai urged political leaders to set aside their differences for the greater good of the nation. He stressed that respecting the constitution and ensuring transparent governance are the keys to rebuilding trust and fostering peace in Pakistan.
The PkMAP Chairman’s statements underscore the urgency of addressing corruption, safeguarding democracy, and prioritizing the welfare of the people to secure Pakistan’s future.
