{"id":904,"date":"2026-05-13T04:50:30","date_gmt":"2026-05-13T04:50:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dailypakistannews.com\/?p=904"},"modified":"2026-05-13T04:50:30","modified_gmt":"2026-05-13T04:50:30","slug":"pakistan-receives-1-3-billion-from-imf-sbp","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailypakistannews.com\/?p=904","title":{"rendered":"Pakistan receives $1.3 billion from IMF: SBP"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) said Wednesday it received about $1.3 billion from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) under the Extended Fund Facility (EFF) and the Resilience and Sustainability Facility (RSF).<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe amount would be reflected in SBP\u2019s foreign exchange reserves for the week ending on May 15, 2026,\u201d the SBP said.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"media  w-full  w-full  media--    media--uneven  media--stretch\" data-original-src=\"https:\/\/x.com\/StateBank_Pak\/status\/2054411332842406080?s=20\">\n<div class=\"media__item  media__item--twitter  \"><span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" lang=\"en\"><p>\n        <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/StateBank_Pak\/status\/2054411332842406080?s=20\"><\/a>\n    <\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><\/span><\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p>Last week, the IMF Executive Board approved <a href=\"https:\/\/www.brecorder.com\/news\/40420310\">Pakistan\u2019s third review<\/a> under the EFF and the second review under the RSF, allowing access to approximately $1.32 billion.<\/p>\n<p>The approval was given at a meeting of the IMF Executive Board held in Washington, DC on May 9.<\/p>\n<p>This decision allowed for an immediate disbursement of around $1.1 billion (SDR 760 million) under the EFF arrangement and around $220 million (SDR 154 million) under the RSF arrangement, bringing total disbursements under the two arrangements to about $4.8 billion (SDR 3.348 billion).<\/p>\n<p>The development follows a staff-level agreement reached on March 27 between IMF staff, led by Iva Petrova, and Pakistani authorities after detailed policy discussions held in Karachi and Islamabad from February 25 to March 2 and subsequently through virtual engagements.<\/p>\n<p>Pakistan\u2019s 37-month EFF arrangement was approved on September 25, 2024, and aims to build resilience and enable sustainable growth.<\/p>\n<hr>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) said Wednesday it received about $1.3 billion from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) under the Extended Fund Facility (EFF) and the Resilience and Sustainability Facility (RSF). \u201cThe amount would be reflected in SBP\u2019s foreign exchange reserves for the week ending on May 15, 2026,\u201d the SBP said.
