ISLAMABAD: The treasury and opposition sparred in the Senate on Tuesday over a rising wave of terrorism in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, with Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) Senator Attaur Rehman asking whether the province had been \u201chanded over to terrorists\u201d.<\/p>\n
Speaking in the House, Senator Rehman accused the government of indifference to KP\u2019s security situation, saying its focus on legislation was \u201cin no way more important than the lives of the people of KP\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhy has our blood turned white? Why is there no concern for KP?\u201d Rehman asked. \u201cBlood is being spilt there and you\u2019re worried about your bills. Are these bills so important that human blood keeps flowing while you keep passing legislation?\u201d<\/p>\n
He cited attacks in Lakki Marwat<\/a> and Bannu<\/a> and said the provincial chief minister was \u201cstill out on tours\u201d.<\/p>\n \u201cHave some sense of our wounds. Why are Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa\u2019s conditions not being given importance?\u201d he said.<\/p>\n Responding to the senator\u2019s remarks, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Tariq Fazal Chaudhry said every terrorist incident had been condemned in the House.<\/p>\n \u201cI don\u2019t believe our hearts don\u2019t ache for these incidents,\u201d he said, calling the attacks on police in Bannu and Lakki Marwat \u201ccowardly\u201d.<\/p>\n Chaudhry said intelligence-based operations were underway, rejecting the impression that any province was being targeted. \u201cThis country will remain; however, the terrorists will be defeated,\u201d he said, noting that an incident had also occurred in Islamabad. He asked whether the suicide blast in Tarlai<\/a> was in KP?<\/p>\n Adviser to the Prime Minister on Political Affairs Rana Sanaullah said he had full faith in Rehman\u2019s patriotism but rejected talk of KP breaking away. \u201cKP and Balochistan are provinces of patriotic Pakistanis,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n Sanaullah claimed \u201cseven to eight thousand misguided people\u201d were receiving terrorist training in Afghanistan with \u201cfunding from India and Israel\u201d and carrying out attacks in Pakistan.<\/p>\n He said that there would be no compromise on Pakistan\u2019s resolve to eliminate terrorism.<\/p>\n
