{"id":498,"date":"2026-05-11T02:50:37","date_gmt":"2026-05-11T02:50:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dailypakistannews.com\/?p=498"},"modified":"2026-05-11T02:50:37","modified_gmt":"2026-05-11T02:50:37","slug":"modi-urges-reduced-fuel-use-amid-middle-east-war-disruption","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailypakistannews.com\/?p=498","title":{"rendered":"Modi urges reduced fuel use amid Middle East war disruption"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>BENGALURU, (India): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday urged the people of India to cut down on petrol and diesel consumption amid supply disruptions due to the Middle East war.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>India is one of few countries in the region that has not increased prices of petrol and diesel for domestic consumers or rationed supplies.<\/p>\n<p>But it has increased prices of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) \u2014 a primary cooking fuel in this country \u2014 after disruptions following the US-Israeli strikes on Iran, which led to Iran\u2019s near-total blockade of the strategic Strait of Hormuz.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have to reduce our use of petrol and diesel. In cities with metro lines, we should try to travel by metro\u2026If we must use a car, then we should try to car pool,\u201d he said, addressing a gathering in southern Telangana state.<\/p>\n<p>He added that restrictions on use were also necessary to save foreign currency spent on fuel imports.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe must also place a strong emphasis on saving foreign exchange, as petrol and diesel have become so expensive globally.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Modi also urged people to resume energy-saving schemes that were in place during the Covid pandemic.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe should prioritise work from home, online conferences, and virtual meetings again,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>BENGALURU, (India): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday urged the people of India to cut down on petrol and diesel consumption amid supply disruptions due to the Middle East war.
