WASHINGTON: Iran\u2019s stockpile of enriched uranium must be \u201ctaken out\u201d before the US-Israeli war against Iran can be considered over, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in an interview on Sunday.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s not over, because there\u2019s still nuclear material \u2013 enriched uranium \u2013 that has to be taken out of Iran. There\u2019s still enrichment sites that have to be dismantled,\u201d Netanyahu said in an excerpt of an interview due to air later Sunday on CBS\u2019s \u201c60 Minutes\u201d programme.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou go in and you take it out,\u201d the Israeli leader said when asked how the uranium could be removed.<\/p>\n

Netanyahu said that US President Donald Trump had a similar position.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m not going to talk about military means, but the president, what President Trump has said to me \u2013 \u2018I want to go in there\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n

However, Netanyahu\u2019s statement was in contrast to Trump\u2019s public position.<\/p>\n

The 79-year-old Republican is under increasing domestic pressure to end the Iran war and he insists that Tehran\u2019s nuclear programme has been contained.<\/p>\n

In an interview aired Sunday but apparently recorded earlier, Trump said Iran was \u201cmilitarily defeated\u201d and he insisted that the uranium could be removed \u201cwhenever we want.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ll get that at some point, whenever we want. We\u2019ll have it surveilled,\u201d he told independent television journalist Sharyl Attkisson.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have that very well surveilled. If anybody got near the place we will know about it and we\u2019ll blow them up.\u201d<\/p>\n

Asked by CBS how the uranium stockpiles could be taken out from Iran, Netanyahu said he would prefer an agreement.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think it can be done physically. That\u2019s not the problem. If you have an agreement and you go in and you take it out, why not? That\u2019s the best way.\u201d<\/p>\n

Pressed on whether there are military options to seize the hidden uranium, Netanyahu said, \u201cI\u2019m not going to talk about our military possibilities, plans, or anything of the kind\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m not going to give a timetable to it, but I am going to say that\u2019s a terrifically important mission.\u201d<\/p>\n

In addition to the unresolved uranium stockpile issue, Netanyahu said there were several other war aims that had yet to be accomplished.<\/p>\n
