{"id":412,"date":"2026-05-10T05:50:46","date_gmt":"2026-05-10T05:50:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dailypakistannews.com\/?p=412"},"modified":"2026-05-10T05:50:46","modified_gmt":"2026-05-10T05:50:46","slug":"israel-deports-two-activists-detained-over-gaza-bound-flotilla","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailypakistannews.com\/?p=412","title":{"rendered":"Israel deports two activists detained over Gaza-bound flotilla"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Israel deported two activists, Saif Abu Keshek, a Spanish national, and Brazilian \u200bThiago Avila, on Sunday after arresting \u200cthem aboard a Gaza-bound flotilla in international waters, the foreign ministry said.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The activists were part of a \u200bsecond <a href=\"https:\/\/www.brecorder.com\/news\/40419246\">Global Sumud Flotilla<\/a> launched from Spain \u200bon April 12 to try to break \u2060Israel\u2019s blockade of Gaza by delivering aid \u200bto the enclave.<\/p>\n<p>They were detained by Israeli authorities \u200bon April 29 and brought to Israel.<\/p>\n<p>Israel\u2019s foreign ministry said Abu Keshek was suspected of affiliation with a \u200bterrorist organisation and Avila was suspected of \u200billegal activity; both denied the allegations, saying they were \u200con \u2060a humanitarian mission for Gaza\u2019s civilian population and that their arrest in international waters was unlawful.<\/p>\n<p>Gaza is largely run by the Palestinian \u200bgroup Hamas, \u200bwhich has \u2060been designated as a terrorist group by Israel and much of \u200bthe West.<\/p>\n<p>The group\u2019s October 7, 2023, attack \u200bon \u2060Israel started the Gaza war that has left much of the enclave\u2019s population homeless and \u2060dependent \u200bon aid, which humanitarian agencies \u200bsay is arriving too slowly.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Israel deported two activists, Saif Abu Keshek, a Spanish national, and Brazilian \u200bThiago Avila, on Sunday after arresting \u200cthem aboard a Gaza-bound flotilla in international waters, the foreign ministry said.
