Minister of State for Interior Tallal Chaudhry on Thursday said that Pakistan\u2019s relationship with the United Arab Emirates was \u201cabsolutely fine\u201d.<\/p>\n
Chaudhry made the remarks while speaking on the floor of the National Assembly in response to concerns raised by lawmakers regarding the deportation of Pakistanis from the Gulf country.<\/p>\n
Several media outlets in recent days have reported <\/a>that the Gulf country had begun a \u201clarge-scale expulsion\u201d of Pakistani workers, particularly Shia workers, signalling a shift in Pakistan-UAE ties. The Interior Ministry has denied <\/a>the claims.<\/p>\n \u201cI don\u2019t know why people are intent on building a narrative against a country; that people from there are being deported based on sectarian differences,\u201d the state minister said on Thursday.<\/p>\n \u201cThere is no such thing. The government has categorically denied this. Our ties with the UAE are absolutely fine,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n He went on to say that for this month, the highest amount of remittances was received from Saudi Arabia, followed by the UAE.<\/p>\n \u201cWe should not be jumping to conclusions regarding countries,\u201d the state minister said, warning that it could impact \u201cfuture ties\u201d. However, he asserted that \u201cif there are any complaints, we will address them,\u201d vowing that the government viewed Pakistanis of \u201call sects and colours\u201d as equal.<\/p>\n
