Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Mohammad Naqvi has officially approved the proposed schedule of events for the inauguration of the coveted Champions Trophy, promising grandeur and much excitement for this tournament.
Opening Ceremony set for February 7 in Lahore
It will have its opening ceremony on 7 February in Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore; as Chief guest, there will be Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, which would provide a great start to the excitement for cricket season soon.
Opening Event Held in Karachi
February 11th in Karachi
After this, on 11th February, there would be continued celebration with different festivals in the National Stadium Karachi. Ex-President Asif Ali Zardari will also be the special guest of the program. Such programs would definitely bring more fame and glory to that great National Independence Day.
On 16 February, it is scheduled that an opening ceremony shall be organized in Hazuri Bagh Lahore. It inaugurated its grand opening at Hazuri Bagh in Lahore on February 16. National personalities, famous cricket players, and members of the ICC were present to mark the formal initiation of the event.
Calendar of Competition and Expectation
The Champions Trophy tournament is going to officially start on February 19. This edition holds special significance for the country because, after 29 years, it is organizing the ICC event for the first time. Therefore, Pakistan, being the defending champion, will have to restore the title after winning this prestigious trophy in 2017, when under their captain, Sarfaraz Ahmed, they lifted it.
